Recording in the studio

King Sound Studio, Tewitfield, Carnforth, Lancashire

Mark and Jessica from King Sound Studio, helped me start my new journey through the forest of music at their gem of a studio just between Kendal and Lancaster. As an experienced bassist and home-grown guitarist/singer songwriter, I have music in my veins and I was ambitious about what I could achieve in the five days that I had scheduled. We started out by setting up a live recording session for me to get used to the studio, equipment and different sounds and feel (compared to live settings and rehearsal spaces) in a professional sound production facility.

I recorded live versions of eight original songs in that first day and really, very quickly felt connected to Mark and Jessica because of their efficiency with the practical side of setting up, working to achieve the sound and vibe that I was after and because of their incredibly advanced listening skills. That not only listened to each note, each breath and foot tap; they listened intently to my story and worked tirelessly to tell it through our work together.

After that first day, I couldn’t wait to get in the studio to start the full project of recording ‘In The Room’.
